Entry qualification

High school / secondary education (or higher) General secondary high school diploma. The average grade of the secondary education document in all subjects must be at least 6 (in a 10 point grading system). All grades must be passing (at least 4 in a 10 point grading system). German language proficiency English language proficiency Student should have all study documents verified/apostilled. You must take the original entry qualification documents along with you when you finally go to the university.

Territory requirements	Applications are NOT accepted from the following territories (based on citizenship): Bangladesh, Iraq, Pakistan, Yemen.

University accepts the following international language tests: DSD (Das Deutsche Sprachdiplom der Kultusministerkonferenz): level 2 DSH (Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang): at least level 2 TestDaF (Der Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache): at least level 4 in all test sections Goethe – Zertifikat: at least level B2 German language proficiency must be provided, except in case if previous education is obtained in German. If previous education is obtained in German, an official letter from the school, where is stated that all your studies were in German medium, must be presented.

Other requirements	The average grade of the secondary education document in all subjects must be at least 6 (on a 10-point scale). As a part of the admission process, applicants will be asked to participate in an online interview.

Overview

This programme is designed for students who are interested in the studies of the language and literature of the German-speaking countries, associate their future with advanced German studies and seek in-depth knowledge of the language and literature along with studies of Latvia’s cultural heritage, considering the relevance of the German language in the Baltic history and culture. Students will appreciate the quality of Germanic studies, translation skills, and a comprehensive view of the German literature and history, which will contribute to career advancement. After successful completion of the programme graduates may pursue further studies in the Master’s degree programme ‘German Philology’ or any other relevant programme.
The full – time degree programme covers three academic years. Classes are mainly from 8.30am till 6pm in the working days.
