Autres exigences | The sub-programme prepares competent and competitive French language specialists. Special attention is paid to the acquisition of another Romance language (choice: Spanish or Italian), as well as to the acquisition and study of the culture and literature of the region. The program is taught by native speaker academic staff members. Students with and without prior knowledge of French are accepted in the sub-programme. As a part of the admission process, applicants will be asked to participate in an online interview. The full – time degree programme covers three academic years. Classes are mainly from 8.30am till 6pm in the working days. |

Aperçu
The programme “French Philology” offers simultaneous studies of two Romanic and German languages. The goal of the programme is to prepare multi competence specialists, who have not only a good command of two Romance languages but know also the history, geography, culture, economics and politics of the respective language speaking countries. The studies of the specific areal, courses for professional purposes (translation, business language, language teaching methodology), basics of economics and law, diplomacy, politics, academic studies and research. The programme envisages students’ mobility within the framework of Erasmus in the institutions of higher learning of France, Belgium, Italy, Spain and Germany. Some courses have been delivered by guest lecturers. After successful completion of the programme graduates may pursue further studies in the Master’s degree programme ‘Romance Languages and Culture’ or any other relevant programme.

Opportunités de carrière
After graduation students can work as translators, assistant managers etc. in government or private institutions in Latvia and abroad where knowledge of Romance and German languages and knowledge of Romance and German language speaking countries history, geography, culture, economics and politics and diplomacy are required.
