Aperçu
The aims of the Odontology Programme are the following: 1) to educate and train odontologists meeting the requirements recognized in the European Union; 2) to create possibilities for acquiring the qualification of an odontologist, granting the right to provide healthcare services; 3) to develop a personality capable of understanding and accepting changes in the society, and capable of functioning in a democratic society; 4) to foster interest in the novelties of the science and practice of odontology; 5) to develop creative, scientific, and critical thinking, and the sense of intellectual satisfaction from studies or work; and 6) to develop the ability to retain sufficient professional competence throughout the life-long learning period. These aims of the Odontology Programme are directly related to the mission of the Programme – to educate and train odontologists who could cooperate with other healthcare specialists for ensuring individual and public health. The aims of the Programme very clearly define the graduates’ readiness for professional individual activity of an odontologist, and for activity in research institutions, in state odontological/healthcare institutions, and in other odontology-related spheres of health promotion.
The Faculty of Odontology has gained international recognition for its achievements in the fields of scientific research and clinical practice. The Faculty of Odontology was established in 1922 and now is the main educational facility for dental practitioners in Lithuania.
